Established for over 19 years, EPH Creative is one of the UK’s leading event & theming suppliers. We work with an ever-growing & impressive range of clients from well-known TV Shows, to Visitor Attractions, Corporate Clients, Weddings and Private Parties. We supply props and theming to over 2,000 events & bespoke projects each year. Our headquarters near Wetherby house an Aladdin’s cave of props, furniture and theming, and our State of the Art Scenic Production facility is one of the largest in the UK.
As a result of expansion we are now looking for an a Project Designer to work across our Design & Projects Department, predominantly working on larger fit-out projects, and large scale live events.
You are a project designer in charge of designing projects and supporting the projects team. Project design is among the first stages of all the projects, planning features and expectations of a project. You help develop the project brief, understanding the various client needs to work towards commercially viable concepts, ideas, and solutions. You own your projects; your natural curiosity fuels your inherent need to know everything about your projects and where they’re at. You help the projects team cut through the various available design solutions, guiding them toward the most effective and efficient deliverables for that project.
You have a great eye for what looks good and are confidently able to articulate why. From trending colours and styles to new products and industry changes/advancements. You are tech savvy and have a great working knowledge of the required design software. You’re constantly learning and staying up to date with not just technical requirements and advancements but equally important, styles and trends that impact the industry.
Responsibilities
This role requires a diverse designer, it’s a hybrid of creative concept ideation, event and interior design, problem solving, project management, and budgeting.
Alongside the projects team, you take ideas and nurture them right from the start and through to production, working with various design and production teams along the way. You have strong research abilities that accompany your project designs, providing support and in-depth details where required.
• With every project, subjectively build a top-level list of design deliverables based on input from projects, design and production team insight. You are responsible for proposing the project design strategy and deciding the deliverables in a way that best uses the time but confidently increases possibility of commercial success.
• You help create job winning presentations that sell to the client. You can effectively present designs at all stages of the design process using visual representations, presentations and discussions with clients.
• Working with Designers, Projects and the Production Management team to prepare designs ready for production and the in-house fabrication team.
• Communicate milestones that require approval from design and / or projects. including prototyping, samples
• Conduct site surveys, field verification, and test fit plans.
• Coordinates and selects fixture, furniture, and equipment specifications.
• You are committed to learning about the field of design (interior, architecture, exhibitions) and incorporating the knowledge into day-to-day business practices.
• You are naturally curious and eager to learn the diverse skillset of the various production teams. You actively seek out and develop the required knowledge to provide better design solutions.
• Assisting other departments with your creative skillset, such as the sales team with creative proposals, graphics, event floorplans and design concepts. You can work in all phases of design process independently.
Skills/attributes required
• Previous Project Management and Design capabilities is essential, ideally 2-3 years of relevant experience. Experience in Event / Exhibition design as well as Commercial Interiors such as Leisure, Workplace/Corporate, Retail, and Restaurant, is highly preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD (or suitable alternative), MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite, Sketchup required.
• The ability to multitask, be proactive and ability to work on own with minimal guidance.
• Strong project & budget management skills and a knowledge of project costs and contracts.
• Strong knowledge of the design process, including colour and materials, furniture systems, FF&E, and specifications.
• Ability to work well in a team environment and manage daily tasks for you and fellow staff.
• Strong communication skills required to demonstrate design ideas and direction, both verbally and graphically.
• Ability to work on multiple projects quickly and simultaneously while maintaining quality and service.

Hours of work
Usual office hours are 8am – 4.30pm or 9am – 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. We are looking for part time or full time applicants who are interested in this role. Minimum 4 days a week- 30-40hrs.

£30,000 (salary flexible dependent on experience)
