Job Description

The role of the Warehouse Senior operative is to have expert knowledge & understanding of all the parts and intricacies of any stock assigned to their Sub-department, being a point of contact for specialist advice. The senior Operative will take overall responsibility for the day to day picking requirements of any stock item that falls within the stock product groups they are assigned, ensuring all items are picked accurately with all parts accounted for. They will assist the wider stock team to arrange and implement the safe and efficient storage of all new items that the section is assigned.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise the efficient and precise picking process for all items within your designated section, ensuring a seamless workflow for your team.
Safely and effectively organize all picked items, ensuring proper bay placement and organization.
Conduct thorough inspections during item returns, verifying accuracy and examining items for damage or signs of wear and tear before they are available for rehire.
Provide accurate and timely reporting of any missing or damaged items related to a job, adhering to prescribed response time frames. Initiate quarantine procedures for returned stock that does not meet satisfactory conditions.
Play an active role in maintaining the quality and condition of the stock assigned to your Picking department, promptly escalating any concerns to the Deputy Warehouse Manager.
Collaborate with the stock and production teams, actively participating in initiatives to minimize quarantined stock.
Assist the Warehouse Manager in locating both new and existing stock within your picking department, enhancing the efficiency of day-to-day picking operations.
When required, supervise a small team of warehouse technicians, ensuring their efficient and proactive contribution to achieving departmental picking goals on a daily and weekly basis. Provide mentoring and training to new team members to ensure their seamless integration.
Uphold a high standard of accuracy in all picking activities, whether performed by you or your team members. Offer support and guidance to others involved in the picking process within your section or the broader warehouse picking team.
Approach all tasks with a positive and proactive mindset, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Adhere fully to all Health and Safety policies and procedures, prioritizing the well-being of yourself and your team.
Contribute to the coaching and development of newly hired team members within your section.
Responsibility for cleanliness and organisation of your section.
